An open-world survival game set in the world of “Conan the Barbarian” is heading to early access in the first part of next year.

Developed by Funcom, Conan Exiles looks to set you free in Hyboria and give you the freedom to pillage and adventure as you wish.

See your enemies driven before you, and hear the lamentation of their women as you build settlements, sacrifice human lives to summon the Son of Set, and craft a legacy in this dark and brutal world.

Game Director Joel Bylos breaks down what we can expect next year, according to a press release:

“The open-world survival genre is ripe for Conan’s conquest. If there ever was a world that can truly test your strength and skill, it is the brutal and savage world of Conan the Barbarian. ‘Conan Exiles’ is not just an empty sandbox, it is a world rich in history where you must discover the secrets of ancient civilizations as you struggle to build your own.”

The game can be played in both multiplayer and single player servers, but the objective is the same: survive. With an overabundance of survival crafting games hitting early access, it is refreshing to see a licensed franchise enter the genre.

Conan Exiles will enter early access on PC on January 31st and Xbox One Game Preview in Spring 2017.
