It seems the legal hammer has finally come down on the fan-made Shadow Moses Project.

The game was meant to be a complete remake of the original “Metal Gear Solid” with updated visuals and gameplay.

However, the game’s Facebook page had some sad news for its followers today as development for the game has been shut down.

Hi guys!
We have an important announcement to make today:
We have to cancel the Shadow Moses Project for reasons beyond our control.
We would like to thank everyone for the tremendous support we have received.
Shadow Moses team.

Though it is a shame that such an awesome endeavor has been quieted, it is not an unexpected twist. Despite the message not stating the exact reason for the cancellation, the legal hurdles necessary to accomplish an entire remaster of the 1997 classic seemed astronomical, even when we previewed the game a few months ago.

Let’s hope the talented guys behind this can put their work on an original IP going forward.
