Daedalic Entertainment releases first of their four video guides for their newest release Blackguards 2, the sequel to the hex-based strategy RPG Blackguards.

Blackguards 2 has been met with mixed user criticism on Steam and currently holds a 78 on Metacritic. The game itself has been seen as an overall improvement on the mechanics and gameplay of the the first game. “Blackguards 2” adds a strategy map where players can choose their own war path to conquering the world where you follow along roads liberating villages with your heroes and your hired mercenaries. The villain will also be utilizing the map to contest captured territory which you will have to defend. The camp has also given players the ability to gather information from a hired spy and captured prisoners, talk with companions, and buy new equipment from merchants.

The combat has been refreshed as well, now more dynamic and sensible. A major complaint from the original “Blackguards” was the large chance for characters to miss a point blank attack which should now almost never occur. Endurance has also been added as a stat which characters use for special attacks and magic. The environment now plays a role in battles as well, offering players cover and also occasionally being interactable. Consensus among reviewers seems to be that the new combat is refreshing, though it can drag out or be tedious at times.

“Blackguards 2” is available for $29.99 on Steam, GOG, and other major online stores now.
