Much to no one’s surprise, today Apple announced the next generation in its line of telephones, aptly named, the iPhone 5.

The iPhone 5 is 20% lighter and 18% thinner than the iPhone 4. In fact, Apple claims it is the thinnest phone you’ve ever seen. It is made out of glass and aluminum and comes in black and white. It also runs on an A6 processor, which makes it twice as fast as its predecessor.

Its front-facing camera is now 720p, and Facetime no longer requires wi-fi access. The phone’s normal camera is 8 megapixels and comes with a a new dynamic low-light mode with image capturing speeds now 40% faster. Three microphones are now built into the phone improving its voice recognition and noise cancellation.

Siri has also received an update and can now post status updates to Facebook and search for sports score updates.

Pre-orders for the phone begin September 14 and it ships on September 21. 16 GB models are available for $199, 32GB for $299, and 64GB for $399. Question is: will you be upgrading?
