In a newly released E3 extended video preview, Bethesda’s Game Director Todd Howard gave us a glimpse of just some of what Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim’s upcoming Dawnguard DLC has to offer.  The video showcases summoned mounts, mounted combat, new weapons, new shouts, new enemies, werewolf perk trees, vampire perk trees, and more.

Crafty players will be happy to hear that Dawnguard includes new dragon bone crafting abilities, allowing the creation of the strongest available armor in Skyrim.  Players who prefer ranged combat will undoubtedly want to check out the crossbow.  This powerful but slow-to-reload weapon looks to be perfect for taking down aged adventurers with skillfully aimed knee shots.

The DLC also looks to give players the option of playing though both good and evil storylines as they can choose to be either a Dawnguard (Skyrim’s equivalent of a Vampire Hunter) or a full-fledged Vampire Lord.  Although I usually play games as the good guy, after watching the Vampire Lord terrorize villagers with his vampire grip and gargoyle minion summing abilities, I may just have to take a walk on the dark side.

Priced at $20, the DLC will offer about 10-20 hours of new game content.  According to Howard, Dawnguard is tentatively scheduled for release on June 26 for the Xbox 360.  The release dates for the PC and PlayStation 3 versions remain unknown.
