Martin Short’s Wife passed away a year a half ago after a long battle with ovarian cancer, something that Today Show host Kathy Lee Gifford was painfully unaware of during Wednesday’s Today Show, as she asked the comedian, who was there to promote the new Animated Film Madagascar 3 how she was doing.
You and Nancy have one of the greatest marriages of anybody in show business,” Gifford said. “How many years now for you guys now?” To Short’s credit, he responded like a true professional – -after one of the most uncomfortable faces we’ve ever seen. “We…married 36 years,” Short said.
During the commercial break, Gifford was made aware of the blunder and issued an apology.
