NEW YORK — An early morning fire resulted in  over 100 firefighters being called to Woodside Queens to battle a quickly spreading house fire.

Nervous neighbors stood watch as overwhelming flames swallowed the suffering structure and spread to two other homes on 61st street. Currently the cause is unknown and the unfortunate event has left one dead and at least four injured, including both civilians and firefighters.

A woman who lives next to the house told NY1, “There was an explosion. I woke up and I could see flames coming out of the house.” The explosion occurred at some time around 1:15 a.m.

According to the FDNY, further investigation is still underway to uncover the origin of the fire.
