Alec Baldwin expressed interest in running for mayor of New York City once he learns more about the duties.

Baldwin told the New York Times that he is talking to two universities about enrolling in a master’s program in politics and government in order to learn more about being the mayor of a city.

The 30 Rock star said 2013 is out of the question due to contractual obligations with the show, but he is strongly considering a shift to politics after his contract is up.

Baldwin will become a permanent NYC resident before running for political office.
