A volunteer firefighter from the Shapleigh, Maine department died last night in a single vehicle accident while responding to a call.

David Remington, 58, of Acton, was responding to a rescue call when he lost control of his truck and crashed, according to FireFighterCloseCalls.com.

Remington was ejected and killed instantly, pronounced dead at the scene. It appears that he was not wearing his seat belt at the time.

Police are investigating the accident; the cause is still under investigation.

Shapleigh has a 27-member volunteer department and responds to one call every other day, according to the town website.
