DALLAS — Three-time World champion surfer, Andy Irons was found dead Tuesday in a Dallas hotel room Tuesday. He was 32.

Irons was in Dallas on a layover, returning home to Kauai, Hawaii after planning to compete in the 2010 Rip Curl Pro Search.

Irons withdrew from the competition, however, citing an illness he contracted in Portugal called Dengue Fever. The Honolulu Star Advertiser reports that the cause of death might have been a methadone overdose, in combination with other prescription drugs were found at the scene.

An autopsy will be performed Wednesday to determine the cause of death.
