Like we said yesterday, Media Molecule’s LittleBigPlanet 2, a sequel to the adventurous and ambitious original, is in fact real and its first details trickled out today.

The game’s first trailer (embedded below) confirms the game’s existence and does a great job at teasing the project.

It looks and sounds as if the game is not LittleBigPlanet 1.5 and instead an entirely new experience. In addition to the trailer, the game’s website went live today, detailing the game further.

According to the website, LBP2 will let gamers “bring your characters to life, compose your own music, direct cinematic masterpieces, wire controllers directly in to your contraptions, connect easy to use switches, microchips and circuit boards to build epic bosses, vehicles, machines, and puzzles.”

What’s more, the over 2 million user made levels from the original will be playable in the sequel, allowing the fun to continue on and on!

After you check out the trailer below, with Passion Pits’ “Sleepyhead” song in the background (totally awesome) head to the game’s website for  lots m ore.
