The new ‘PlayStation Protection Plan’ will be available beginning this month. The program is available to all new purchasers, as well as those who are still covered by the one-year manufacturers’ warranty for their PS3 or PSP.
If desired, the PS3’s manufacturers’ warranty can now be extended by one year for $44.99, and two years for $59.99. PSP owners will get one year for $29.99 or two years for $39.99. PSP owners can also buy the Accidental Damage Plan, which extends the system coverage to include cracked screens, for an additional $10.
If your original one-year warranty is still active, yet you would prefer the comfort of an extension, you can have the new plan start when your original warranty expires.
