Tony Hawk, the father, skateboarder and videogame character, announced his next game last night, though not everyone was pleased.

The Birdman used his favorite social space to deliver the news, Tweeting last night that the game is called “Tony Hawk: Shred” and his PR people will hate him for letting go the news.

“Tony Hawk: Shred. There, I said it. Actually, I named it. Somewhere a PR team is reeling.”

That PR team is indeed reeling, as the Tweet has since been removed, which, in and of itself, likely confirms the game’s name and existence.

Tony’s previous effort “Ride,” with its plastic skateboard peripheral, didn’t sell too well and was poorly reviewed, but developer Robomodo is willing to try again. When official news comes, we’ll have it here.

What do you think about the Tony Hawk franchise? Time to shoot the horse? Or what?

Why do people keep saying Tony Hawk Ride didn’t sell well? It actually sold pretty well. Didn’t get great reviews but it did sell over a million copies. I’d take that.
