The Boston Globe reports one of the most well-known authors of the 20th century, J.D. Salinger, has died at his New Hampshire home. He was 91.

Mr. Salinger was the author of the famous “The Catcher in the Rye.” First published in 1951, the book has sold more than 60 million copies.

Mr. Salinger died of natural causes. The author’s son confirmed the news in statement that was released to the Associated Press.

He had been living for decades in Cornish, N.H.
