Xbox Live, everyone’s favorite online hangout destination, will be shut down for service maintenance Tuesday, June 16 for up to 24 hours, and in addition, certain Xbox.com features, including the ability to post on forums will also be unavailable for the day.

Before you go ape know that Microsoft is doing this to prepare for a slew of new features, including the addition of last.fm, Twitter, and Facebook to the paid service. So yes, you won’t be able to connect for up to a day, but the rewards will be worth the momentary downtime.

Also, this maintenance is simply maintenance, and is merely preparing for the addition of said updates, and will not mark their arrival to Xbox Live.
