Top 10 movies of 2008

Much like senior editor Liz Rafferty said in her review of the top 10 music hits of 2008, it was hard to pick out a top 10 best movies of the year. Consider it a top 6, with those being the ones that were absolutely phenomenal and final four being decent runner ups. However, 2009 looks like it could be a much better year for movies after the remaining issues caused by the 2008 writer's strike have faded away. And for anyone who criticizes the fact that "The Dark Knight" is number four instead of number one, go see the top three movies and you will understand.

Top 10 video games of 2008

Now that the gaming year of 2008 is over, it's time to take a look back at some of the best titles released. There are top ten lists popping up all over the Internet, but this list is going to be a bit different. Instead of simply ranking what I consider the ten best games of the year, I am going to list them with no specific order or reasoning to them. That way, I can just be chastised for the normal things authors of these lists deal with, like being biased for or against a system instead of "How could you rank [X] ahead of [Y]! You're a n00b!"

Kung Fu Panda: Legendary Warriors

"Kung Fu Panda: Legendary Warriors" has its merits, as it is at times a charming brawler that young fans of the movie may be excited to play. There are non-licensed titles that do all of the good things "Kung Fu Panda" does (and better) out there though, so if your kid isn't dying to revisit the world of Po and his pals once more, you are better off shopping elsewhere, especially since this sequel came so soon after the original hit shelves.

Celebrity Sports Showdown sucks

At first glance, "Celebrity Sports Showdown" looks like an improved version of "Wii Sports," as it includes more sports, celebrity characters and a few game modes to keep you coming back. 2008: The Year in Music

This year, my picks (for the most part) are the result of separating the less mediocre from the more. The first four albums are wonderful records that I truly believe are worthy of a top 10 mention in any year. But in a year with better musical offerings on the whole, I doubt the final six would even crack my top 20. It was difficult to place them in order because none of them particularly stood out to me. They're all fine records, but I'm eagerly looking ahead to 2009 for a better musical buffet.
