Much like senior editor Liz Rafferty said in her review of the top 10 music hits of 2008, it was hard to pick out a top 10 best movies of the year. Consider it a top 6, with those being the ones that were absolutely phenomenal and final four being decent runner ups. However, 2009 looks like it could be a much better year for movies after the remaining issues caused by the 2008 writer’s strike have faded away. And for anyone who criticizes the fact that “The Dark Knight” is number four instead of number one, go see the top three movies and you will understand.

Now that the gaming year of 2008 is over, it’s time to take a look back at some of the best titles released. There are top ten lists popping up all over the Internet, but this list is going to be a bit different. Instead of simply ranking what I consider the ten best games of the year, I am going to list them with no specific order or reasoning to them. That way, I can just be chastised for the normal things authors of these lists deal with, like being biased for or against a system instead of “How could you rank [X] ahead of [Y]! You’re a n00b!”

Complying a list of what made 2008 so special is pretty tough. You have a world view, a local view, perspectives on certain sectors of human interests, and analysis that favor a new trend. So much goes into 2008, that I wanted to do 2,008 memorable moments of 2008.
It would have been appropriate had our [...]

Israel will continue to pummel Gaza with rockets after a 48-hour cease fire proposal was rejected by the security cabinet Wednesday, the New York Times reports.

So MTV named Twilighters the collective Woman of the Year, and in all honestly, Blast Magazine can see why. This year we’ve covered Twilight mobbing in from San Francisco to Chicago, cast appearances, and the way Twilighters band together to get things done – and Twilighters have definitely made themselves known. It is safe to [...]

Miami Dolphins QB Chad Pennington has won the Associated Press Comeback Player of the Year award for 2008. It’s the second time he’s claimed the award, when he nabbed it with the Jets in 2006.
Pennington revived a 1-15 Dolphins team and took them to the playoffs with an 11-5 record this season.
“I think in my [...]

In a landslide win of 49 out of 50 votes, New England Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo has won the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year. Mayo led a linebacker group that struggled at times with 137 tackles and proved the Pats were smart for grabbing him at #10 in this past April’s Draft.
“Jerod’s done [...]

My dear, dear French fries,
We need to talk.
The years have gone by so fast for us. From my first McDonald’s fry 24 years ago to the wide crinkle cut deliciousness at Glenwood in Connecticut and Town Spa in Stoughton.
It’s always been good. That was never the problem.
Something changed between us. It became all about you. [...]

“Kung Fu Panda: Legendary Warriors” has its merits, as it is at times a charming brawler that young fans of the movie may be excited to play. There are non-licensed titles that do all of the good things “Kung Fu Panda” does (and better) out there though, so if your kid isn’t dying to revisit the world of Po and his pals once more, you are better off shopping elsewhere, especially since this sequel came so soon after the original hit shelves.

Arizona Cardinals (+2.5) over Atlanta Falcons
Yes, Arizona has a horrific defense and they lost four out of their last six games. They look terrible and Kurt Warner is fifty-six years old. There’s probably ten teams in the NFC that are better than them. They only beat one other NFC team that was not in their [...]

With Christmas behind us and New Years upon us, now would be a good time to learn from holiday travel mistakes and not let the past repeat itself next year. Traveling at this time of year is always hectic — it should come as no surprise. Yet, somehow every year, thousands of people find themselves [...]

At first glance, “Celebrity Sports Showdown” looks like an improved version of “Wii Sports,” as it includes more sports, celebrity characters and a few game modes to keep you coming back. Once you play it though, you will realize that this is a retail game with less depth than the pack-in game that came with your syste

The first Falcons rookie quarterback to start a season opener since Steve Bartkowski in 1975, Matt Ryan was named Offensive Rookie of the Year today after throwing for 3,440 yards, 16 TD’s and 11 INT’s. Edging out Baltimore’s Joe Flacco, Ryan also led his Falcons (11-5) to an improbable playoff berth despite extremely low [...]

This year, my picks (for the most part) are the result of separating the less mediocre from the more. The first four albums are wonderful records that I truly believe are worthy of a top 10 mention in any year. But in a year with better musical offerings on the whole, I doubt the final six would even crack my top 20. It was difficult to place them in order because none of them particularly stood out to me. They’re all fine records, but I’m eagerly looking ahead to 2009 for a better musical buffet.
