Action – Project Sylpheed – Xbox 360 – Square Enix

Hardcore gamers will remember Project Sylpheed as Silpheed, a 1988 side-scrolling action game and later a failed Sega CD game with better-than-normal graphics for the time. The Xbox 360 variant brings a complex story and tons of action in a Star Wars meets General Hospital wrapper. The game follows the lives of young space cadets and the war that has consumed them. The gameplay, itself, is flight combat-based with a very interesting space flight model. Instead of turning and on a full 360 degree arc like other space sims, in order to turn you have to bank and pull up like terrestrial flight simulations. There’s a ton of action, great battle scenes and a story that’s just corny enough to fit the mold.
